Evaluation of Traffic Lane Detection with OpenStreetMap GPS Data

In 2010, Yihua Chen and John Krumm have published a paper at ACM GIS about “Probabilistic Modeling of Traffic Lanes from GPS Traces“. Chen and Krum apply Gaussian micture Models (GMM) on a data set of 55 shuttle vehicles driving between the Microsoft corporate buildings in the Seattle area. Hardware Spending

We need

* Internet Servers

* Bandwidth

* Data Storage

for the hosting of the central coordination system. For the ability to manage a part of the map and include mode. We dont need to be able to store all layers and all tiles on the server, but need the capacity to process a part of it and distribute the load.

we need a simple and fast Changeset browser

we need a simple and fast CS browser web app that we can page through and review the changes and rate them. we want to see all the CS in a area. See if there are deletes or modifications. See if they are modifying or deleting other peoples work. this should be mostly done in openlayers and javascript. with a simple ajax API to the backend The app would be able to 1. flag changesets for revert. 2. flag users for separation/deletion ...more »

Sort the planet file geographically

The OSM planet file is sorted by ID, this makes processing it cumbersom because you need to load in all the ids to know what id is in what geographic location. it would be better to sort the file by geographic location. my idea was to use a geohash as a sorting mechanism. or to use some block system. in any case some sorting would be great.

Create a Changeset based Bugtracker

Sometimes there are changesets that are really strange. It would be cool if we could create Bugtracker tickets from Changeset IDs. This would help to get in contact with the Changeset user and help to revert or fix strange/wrong/vandalism changesets.
